Substantial seller fees and shipping.
Be aware of the added cost of bidding on any items, seller cost and shipping can make your purchase upside-down.. They do ship fairly fast and the packing was fair, un boxed brass items could have been more secured. Overall all was ok.

Hi Bill-We do not process your credit card for payment. If you have a card on file with LiveAuctioneers, it is automatically charged after invoices are sent out, therefore it is impossible for our auction house to charge your card twice. We do not even have access to your card on file with LiveAuctioneers, so we have no ability to charge a card on our own. We contacted you timely to resolve this "alleged double charge", and in fact, you told us you were not billed twice. You could not find the alleged second charge after reviewing your credit card transactions, therefore we thought the matter had been resolved with you. LiveAuctioneers also confirmed you were only charged once. We shipped your item promptly, and even though there was no double charge, you still decided to dispute the one charge with your credit card company. We encourage you to read the bidder portion of the LiveAuctioneers website regarding LivePayments, having a card on file with LiveAuctioneers and how payment processing works with LiveAuctioneers before you place any future bids with another auction house. Best, Harris Toy & Train Auctions

shill bidding
Most painful auction experience I have EVER encountered! Bidding was at about $80. I bid my max of $1050. Auction price was now about $120. Within 8 hours, the bid jumped to my maximum. This was suspicious to me, so I canceled my bid. Now, the high bid was about $260. Then the bid went to about $600. I waited a few days and then bid $950. Within 24 hours the bid on the item hit my max ($950). This indicates to me that someone had knowledge of my bid amount then, conveniently, bid just enough for me to hit my max. I am quite sure there was some really funny bidding going on somewhere. Namely, when I bid the $950 the price should have gone up to near my original bid $1050, but it did not

Hi Gregory-There was no shill bidding as alleged in your review above. The LiveAuctioneers auction platform does NOT reveal pre-bidding activity with the auction house. We would be happy to share the sale transcript with you, showing the bid activity. Any questions regarding the pre-bidding activity can be directed to LiveAuctioneers. When a lot is opened on the LiveAuctioneers platform, we do not determine the price it opens at. It opens at the current highest bid on LiveAuctioneers, which happened to be your max bid, as the transcript reflects. If there is bidding activity on our other platform we run simultaneously, those bids are entered as a "competing bid". We will be happy to discuss any concerns you have. Thank you.

Better request better pictures, because the descriptions don't help
All I can say is buyer beware.. Had 5 lots from this auction and each had their disappointments. Pictures are mostly fuzzy, poor resolution and taken from far away. Take all TCA gradings with a large grain of salt, and probably subtract 3 from any rating. Examples: SD9 engine-graded C9 (factory new)-missing the roller for the track pickup. If you zoom way in on the fuzzy picture on a big monitor, you can see that its missing if you know to look for it. Lot of 14 freight cars "graded C6 or C7"... 3 were absolute junk. One with a poor repaint not disclosed, other severely warped, missing parts. Several cars in the lot were missing doors, brake wheels, chipped cat walks, only a couple of cars could be considered 'very good c6 "Lot with two northwestern switchers and a dozen freight cars: Powered engine arrived broken, multiple pieces had to be glued back on and frame needed to be straightened. Milk tubs were very discolored (hard to tell with photo lighting) and retaining tabs broken. Lot with 2 UP switchers: Harris graded as C7 (excellent) one switcher had repainted cab roof, other arrived with truck side frame broken off. Pipe cars had broken hold downs, missing a pipe. FM trainmaster and caboose lot is the one lot I felt was accurately described. Graded c9 and seemed to be new. With a very high 23 % premium, this auction house needs to step up their game and provide more detailed descriptions, and higher resolution photos. Shipping/handling/material fees seemed rather high. They seemed packaged well, but clearly not well enough for the amount of items received damaged. Overall displeased and will look for alternative sellers in the future.

Happy recipient
The person to whom I had this item shipped thought the item was in lovely condition, from a paint standpoint, and after a bit of tuneup, should be a nice display runner. So I'm happy.

Recipient happy, I'm happy, all are happy
I got two items in this particular auction, and had them shipped to a friend that works with "prewar" Lionel train material. He was very impressed with, and pleased by, the items, so my goal was accomplished. I've got my eye on this auction house, and will be investigating their future auctions. They're reliable.

First Class Service
From start to finish this was a hassle free process. I made my purchase from New Zealand and they packed and shipped to me the items arrived safe and secure in a reasonable time frame and the staff at Harris's were friendly and helpful.

Responsive, accurate, fair
I had trouble bidding online through a third party, so I went directly to the Harris site. That worked like a charm. I also had some questions about my order since this was my first auction experience. The response was immediate, satisfying my question and even reduced my overall bill. The shipping cost was reasonable and the items arrived safely and intact. I would definitely attend another Harris Toy auction.
