Great auction house to deal with. Payment was made so easy with credit card details already stored on their system. Shipping was through "Shipping Saint" and they are the best at getting model trains to me here in Australia. They use DHL Express and they are also the very best and most reasonable in cost to ship my winning loco's and wagons to me here in Australia. I always look out for notifications of train auctions from this auction house. Highly recommended!!

Because they are not grading to TCA standards you don’t know what you are buying and their pictures are poor limited in number such as seldom showing the trucks.

I bid with a number of auction houses, for over 20 years. I have only bid on two auctions with Harris but both experiences were flawless. All steps were as easy as they could be. Of particular note, for me, is the imaging software, which allows incredible close up examination of details. When one is dealing with 120 year old items, this is extremely valuable. The staff of the house was great to deal with, too. Finally, very reasonable fees.

Disappointed

I purchased an American flyer CN & W switch engine. Harris rated the item in the description as C-7 + which they list as “excellent condition with only minute scratches snd no missing parts. There was actually a broken coupler which the pictures did show but the horn was missing and a gouge taken out of one side of the walkway. It was certainly not a C-7 piece. And while I am photos are there for the buyer to “inspect” the piece, ni ice bidders like myself depend on the rating given buy the auction house.

Harris sells very nice items. I collect American Flyer and was very excited with the variety and condition of the items that were listed. Unlike other train auctions, their photos are great and there are enough that if there is damage, you will see it. I have been very satisfied with everything I have purchased from them. They pack the items very well and the packaging is large enough that there won't be any damage to the items. It took a while for my items to arrive, but the condition they arrived in made it well worth the wait.

This was my first experience with Harris Toy Train Auctions. I was initially not sure what to expect as I live in Southern California, but any concerns have been laid to rest. The auction process went smoothly. The payment process was easy and the shipping process was surprisingly easy and everything received home very well packed and with no shipping damage. Great experience for me!

I've bid on the Harris site three times now. Harris offers a great variety of quality trains, among other things, with good descriptions, pictures, and a good shot at TCA grades for condition. All I had to do was winnow down the list of lots I wanted to bid on to a manageable length. In all cases, when the lots I won arrived they matched the descriptions and TCA grades. They also arrived quickly and very well packaged. The only Issue I had was in trying to establish an account which would enable me to bid on their site, and, thereby, save a bit on the mark-up as opposed to the external site I used. I was originally unable to accomplish this due to a software issue with their verification page. The folks at Harris spent a great deal of time with me both on the phone and via email to finally straighten it out. I appreciated their efforts, and while it didn't solve the problem soon enough for this auction, it has now been rectified and I look forward to bidding on their site again, and again, and again, I'm sure!
