Prehistoric Artifact Auction

We are very pleased to offer the Dr. John Mountjoy Collection. John and his wife, Terri, are two of the finest people you'll ever meet. John has been an active pert of the artifact collecting community for decades. He is recently retired from his dental practice and has decided to return the vast majority of his collection to the collecting community. Much of John's collection can be seen in Who's Who #12. His collection of Hardstone Artifacts reflects his eye for quality. In addition to fine Midwestern Axes, Celts, and Gouges, John also assembled one of the finest collections of Northwest Coast Pestles we've seen. The Mountjoy Collection will be sold over three auctions. Curt Grimmer has decided to downsize his collection of flint artifacts. You'll see dozens of fine points and blades this sale that Curt collected over the past two decades. He collected heavily during the Townsend and Hathcock sales. Many of the fine flint masterpieces from those sales will be offered. Many of Curt's artifacts were authenticated by Dwain Rogers. We are also pleased to offer another fine selection of items from the Evan Maurer Collection. During his career, Mr. Maurer curated and directed a number of Native American artifacts exhibits in association with such notable institutions as the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Art Institute of Chicago. He authored several fine books during his associations with these museums. This offering also includes a selection of rare, well documented artifacts from the San Lazaro Pueblo in New Mexico. All were found on the private ranch of Forrest Fenn, a well known enthusiast and collector. Some of the artifacts offered are pictured in Secrets of the San Lazaro Pueblo, a fascinating study of the peoples who inhabited this community some five centuries ago. Last, and certainly not least, the finest of all Birdstones will be offered in this sale. Earl Townsend’s Porphyry Popeyed
