Josephine Abercrombie (1926-2022) was a life-long horsewoman, philanthropist, businesswoman and founder of The Lexington School in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the only child of Texas oilman and Cameron Iron Works founder J.S. Abercrombie and Lillie Frank Abercrombie. Josephine spent her childhood in Texas where she began showing American Saddle Horses as a young girl. Her success as a Saddlebred competitor and her passion for the sport led her to establish the thoroughbred-breeding farm Pin Oak Stud in Versailles, Kentucky in 1952. Over the past four decades Pin Oak Stud, under Josephine's leadership, has embodied excellence in thoroughbred breeding and racing. Additionally, Josephine was always an active supporter of her Texas and Kentucky communities, providing generous philanthropic support to educational institutions and civic projects. The sale also features American and European furniture, silver and ceramics, Asian art, American and European fine art, Meissen porcelain, modern design and studio glass, and American folk art from various collections including: Property from a Michigan Collector, Property from the Collection of the Legendary Dealer Norm Flayderman, Property from a Private Collection, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Property from the Estate of Joanne Wojtusiak, Cornwall Bridge, Connecticut.
