Coming just two days before spring, this year's Late Winter Gallery Auction of Art and Antiques will be later than usual to accommodate the arrival of important pieces from the collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888-1948). Mrs. Hall's father was a principal of Emery, Bird, Thayer, Kansas City's oldest and finest department store (founded in 1884) and her collection was assembled in the early days of the 20th century. Most retain their tag lettered THE BIRD COLLECTION. A few items, like Josephine's 14 karat gold feeding spoon, date to her childhood.
