Classic to Contemporary

Stefek's Classic to Contemporary Auction features a variety of fine and decorative arts ranging from antique and classic pieces to modern and contemporary works. Works of art included in this auction are highlighted by a stunning oil on board by French artist Henri Lebasque, "Flowers on a Table". An oil on canvas portrait of a lady by Cecil Clark Davis will be on offer, as well as a portrait of a young girl by Alfred Fowler Patten titled "A Passing Shower". Contemporary works on paper to include a lithograph by Alexander Calder titled "Quilt", prints by Al Held, Lowell Nesbitt, Allan D'Arcangelo, Philip Pearlstein, and more. Photography within this auction includes photos by Howard Bond, O. Winston Link, Tony Spina, and others. A unique collection of majolica on display will include a pair of partridge candlesticks by Hugo Lonitz, pieces attributed to George Jones, a wall bracket attributed to George Skey, and several detailed pieces depicting birds and more. Our furniture selection is headed by case furniture designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller ? a model 3323 dresser and chest complimented by the rare circular dresser mirror. Other twentieth century furniture of note to include Hans Wegner nesting tables, a Warren Platner for Knoll wire chair and side table, a Richard Schultz for Knoll patio set, and additional mid-century pieces. Post-modern and contemporary furniture to include chairs by Mario Botta for Alias, Philippe Starck for Baleri Italia, a structured pair of "Pratfall" chairs by Philippe Starck, eight "Mandarin" chairs by Ettore Sottsass for Knoll, and two Ligne Roset "Togo" chairs with ottomans. A superb "Chan" coffee table by Philip and Kelvin Laverne will be on offer.
