Winter Enchantment - Day Two

The amazingly diverse offering of fine art, antiques and decorative rarities at our Winter Enchantment auction is sure to peak collector interest and chase away the February chill. On Saturday, we present art by Alfred Thompson Bricher, David Teniers the Younger, Thomas Birch, Alexandre Calame, Pierre Renoir, Hiram Powers, Georges Valentin Bareau, Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Louis Moret and others. An excellent inventory of early maps will be presented, led by 18th C. charts of Canada by Des Barres and Pierre Mortier. A Renaissance Period carved wooden plaque depicting the Black Madonna will be sold, along with an important patriotic design ship?s stern board by Rockland, ME carver Lucien Green (1917-2005). Americana to be offered on this day will include marine items, weathervanes, decoys, samplers, and stoneware. This day will also include American and European formal antique furniture, Chinese export porcelain, early lighting, and an excellent group of tea caddies. Among the large inventory of fine Asian antiques will be a 17th-18th Century Thai life-size bronze Buddha sculpture and a pair of French ormolu mounted Chinese flamb? glazed bottle vases. Additionally, there will be great selections of carpets, silver and antiquities.
