Newel Auction is pleased to present a curated sale of Modern and Contemporary Art & Design, featuring exceptional works sourced from distinguished New York City collections. Art highlights include five extraordinary paintings by Ouattara Watts, a contemporary of Basquiat; works in various media by Komar & Melamid; and sculptures by Jeff Koons, Niki de Saint Phalle, Raul Farco, and Yaacov Agam. Additional highlights include paintings by Max Papart, Erwin Wending, Domoto Hisao, and Nicholas Krushenick. A notable Scandinavian design collection features pieces by Axel Einar Hjorth, Carl Malmsten, Frits Henningsen, and Josef Frank, along with studio pottery by Stig Lindberg and Svend Hammershoi. French and Italian design is represented by a Jules Leleu table from the SS Normandie, a Jacques Adnet crystal lamp, a pair of Maurice Jallot lounge chairs, a Fornasetti cocktail table, and a collection of Italian lighting, including rare and iconic designs by Angelo Lelli for Arredoluce. American design offerings include important works by Vladimir Kagan, Karl Springer, and Philip & Kelvin Laverne, as well as an extensive suite of custom Tommi Parzinger furniture from a New Jersey commission. Contemporary design highlights feature a rare editioned console by Herve Van der Straeten and a whimsical pair of side chairs by Pierre Yovanovitch.
