Winter Visions: The Four Seasons

This collection opens with Taisho era reproduction woodblock prints after Hiroshige and Yoshitoshi, followed by Meiji period sheets by Keinen Imao. Together, these works trace the stylistic shift from late Meiji naturalism to the bold, narrative sensibilities that defined Taisho print culture. Their imagery provides the historical foundation for the modern offset lithographs of Hide Kawanishi, whose urban motifs and color driven compositions reflect Japan’s transition into 20th century design. The selection concludes with Frank Lloyd Wright’s Selected Drawings Portfolio, Volume II, presenting an exquisite example of his celebrated architectural vision for Japan.
