Description
Unknown American Manufacturer. Produced and Sold Circa 1898. Rear Admiral Winfield Schley was the naval hero of the Battle of Santiago de Cuba in the Spanish-American of 1898. His winning strategy involved encircling the battleships of the Spanish Armada under the command of Admiral Pascual Cervera. As they tried to leave the harbor, the American warships fired upon them, sinking seven of Spain's ships. This was seen as retribution for the sinking of the USS Maine three months earlier in Havana Harbor. This represents an exceedingly scarce toy bank.
