Description
Two brass puzzle boxes, comprising An English brass single-dial puzzle snuff box. Circa 1840. 2 3/4 x 1 1/5 inches; brass box, with a dial pointer over an engraved clock face, the dial controlling the combination, allowing a circular sliding button to open the hinged lid; together with An English brass triple-dial puzzle box. Mid-19th century. Brass box of octagonal form, with an engraved lid, three combination dials and a fish-shaped lever open the lid, monogrammed JC. Minor denting and wear, with expected scratching to areas around the dials and button, the single dial snuff box is open, the triple dial box will require some trial and error.
