This is a vintage handmade string-pieced patchwork quilt constructed from a wide variety of cotton and cotton-blend scrap fabrics. The design features square blocks composed of diagonally sewn strips, oriented so that groups of four form an X-pattern configuration. The fabric assortment includes various patterns such as florals, stripes, ginghams, solids, and paisleys. The blocks are separated by a light brown and tan striped fabric sashing, which is accented by navy blue solid cotton cornerstones at the intersections. The piece is finished with hand-quilted diagonal lines throughout. The reverse side consists of a single-piece off-white cotton fabric. No maker labels or signatures are visible.
