1722 Dated Military Commission Signed by Massachusetts Governor Samuel Shute. Document appointing "Ezra Whitmarsh to be Ensign of the Foot Company in the Town of Weymouth, John Hunt, Captain & in the Third Regiment of Militia"--"You are therefore carefully and diligently, to discharge the Duty of Ensign, in Leading, Ordering and Exercising said Company in Arms, both Inferiour Officers and Souldiers. . ." The document signed in ink by Governor Samuel Shute and by Massachusetts Bay Secretary Willard. Wooden frame under glass, measures: 14" H x 17.75" W.
