Description
Manuscript Discharge Certificate for the 12th Regiment of Dragoons with Wax Seals. [France, ca. 1799 (“l’an 7”)]. A fine example of the elaborately engraved paperwork required at the termination of Military service signed by many officials, including Henri Bertrand (1773-1844). On laid paper. With two wax seals stamped by the Office of the Minister of War. Approximately 8 ⅞ x 11 ⅞”. Framed in double-sided glass in a gilt wooden frame. Frame size approximately 12 ½ x 15 ¾”. Three vertical and one horizontal creases, document is foxed, a few small chips or bumps, inkstamps of “Ministere de la Guerre” on recto and verso, four areas of apparent adhesive residue on verso. Still, a near fine example of this uncommon document. Offered with an autograph letter signed. [France, ca. 1819]. Approximately 9 ½ x 7” (creased, some wear).
