Description
A Casque à Chenille de la Garde Nationale à Cheval, 1è Restoration, 1814Sturdy shell and front/rear visor covered in polished black leather, garniture or silvered white metal fittings are complete and reflect the prevailing style and methods of helmet decoration during the le Empire. The distinction is the replacement of the Imperial "N" with the Bourbon fluer de lys, seen on the rosette fixtures for the chinscales and the removable oval panel on the crown under the front. It is also probably the only example of boiled leather used in French military headwear during the entire Napoleonic era. Inside lined in brown silk with black leather sweatband. The interior fittings and black caterpillar chenille are original and complete.USA lot - more info hereCondition: II
