Description
A Swiss two-handed flamberge for use in combat, circa 1580Broad, double-edged blade with a medial ridge on each side and strongly waved edges. A copper-inlaid imperial orb mark stamped on one side at the root of the blade. The long ricasso with two sturdy guards angled towards the blade on both sides. Traces of a Swiss cross engraved on one side, the letters "E:S.M.E" in the corners. The extended, round quillons with circular finials. Large guard rings with central nodes on both sides. Original grip flattened at the side, the cord winding covered in leather. A crack on the side in the upper third. Sturdy, pear-shaped pommel with offset riveted button.
