Description
An Austrian two-handed flamberge, circa 1580Broad, double-edged blade of flattened diamond section with strongly waved edges. The long ricasso with the original leather cover and sturdy guards on both sides. The extended, blackened quillons with large, double guard rings and two finger rests on the underside. The surfaces covered in fine stippling on both sides. The original grip with cord winding covered in leather and braided iron Turk's heads. Circular pommel with spiral flutes on the top. Length 172 cm.Provenance: Collection of Dr. Heinrich Tanner in Herisau (Switzerland).
