(8vo) 21.2x13 cm (8¼x5¼"), modern quarter red leather & marbled boards, spine tooled & lettered in gilt, raised bands, marbled endpapers.Complete volume of the Anales Mexicanos, featuring most notably a folding duotone lithograph with multiple views of Giant Sequoias surrounding a central view "Vista General del Hotel y de la Selva que le Rodea." Currey & Kruska describe the plate as "a similar [to the Thomas A. Ayres view] but redrawn lithograph (28x41.9 cm) of eight mammoth tree views with Spanish text and with the imprint 'Lito de Salazar,' was folded into Anales Mexicanos... This version lists A. Smith Haynes as sole proprietor." The plate with 2" tear into image, some marginal chipping, lower left margin trimmed to facilitate folding into book. There is an accompanying article, "Descripcion del bosquecillo del arbol Mammuth," as well as a color lithograph of the California plant, "Wellingtonia Gigantea," with its own article.

Very good condition in fine modern binding.
