Abraham Lincoln Relic Pairing- Death Room Wallpaper & Red Room Swatch
Relic
Two wallpaper swatches, the first being attributed to the Lincoln-era "Red Room" of the White House and the second originating from Lincoln's "Death Room" at the Petersen House, located across the street from Ford's Theatre. The Red Room swatch measures 1" x .75" while the two Death Room swatches measure .75" x .25" and .5" x .5", respectively. Both have been mounted to blank index cards to the overall size of 5.75" x 3.5". Accompanied by a photocopied letter from the U.S. Department of the Interior, stating that their examination of the Death Room wallpaper determined the swatch to be "…authentic and is from the room where Lincoln died." Based on the letter's contents, it is assumed that these fragments were likely taken from a larger sample, from which they were cut. Exhibits degrees of age discoloration, with surface cracks present on wallpaper and light fraying to Red Room swatch. A near fine pairing overall.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
