  • Provenance: Signature quilt, all hand embroidered and hand quilted, made by Chris Berwalde of Columbus Ohio. Among the many embroidered names are: Carrington T. Marshall - Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, George White - Governor of Ohio, H.H. Williams - City Health Officer, P.E. Thomas - Warden of the Ohio Penitentiary, Columbus, OH, Harry T. - Franklin County Sheriff, A.E. Nice ; Chief of Columbus Fire Department, H.E. French - Columbus Chief of Police, A. Leach - judge of the Common Please Court, and --?-- Thomas, Mayor of Columbus. There are multiple straight line, grid, and geometric designs quilted in the background with thick embroidery thread at 3-4 stitches to the inch. The back is the same creamy white used on the front, the machine stitched binding is dusty rose pink, and there is no batting (summer weight).
