Roy Lichtenstein represents people and objects of everyday life by transforming them into art, extrapolating a scene from its original context and giving it a completely renewed meaning, with the insertion of texts and onomatopoeia, in addition to the distinctive dotted effect made through the Ben-Day Dots technique. This is the foundation of the same American pop art, whose artists are inspired by subjects of mass culture and commonly used objects, isolating them from their natural environment to transform them into the new symbols of the consumer society devoted to excess: the same objects were already deeply impressed in the collective imagination, thanks to the pressing advertising that invaded the communications of the main mass media.
