Let side of the rnd. tapered bbl. exhibits "COLT NEW 41" within an oblong etched panel, with Colt's 2-line mfg. information marked across the top, and "PAT.SEPT.15.1874" above the S#, followed by 2 diminutive British proofs marked on the underside. Left side of the frame is marked "41 CAL", followed by "C" below the cyl. Side of cyl. exhibit British Crown/V and Crown/GP proof to the rear of the flutes. Frame exhibits a case colored finish, with the cyl. and bbl. exhibiting a high polished blue finish. Rear strap of hammer, trigger, and frame screws exhibit a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain wood bird's head grips. German silver half-moon blade front sight with grooved rear sight on top strap of frame. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, cyl., and bbl. CONDITION: frame retains large amounts of its original case colored finish, exhibiting some areas of wear fading to gray patina and scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Grip straps have faded to a mottled gray patina. Cyl. and bbl. show scattered areas of flaking to their original blue finish. Nitre blued parts show areas of wear fading to gray patina, with some spots of light surface oxidation. Polished sides of hammer exhibit light surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting predominately towards the muzzle, while retaining sharp, well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, with tight cyl. lock up. Grips show some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (01-28564/MLW). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
