Alexander Gardner right profile photo of Lee taken February 1866 when Lee visited Gardner's Gallery in Washington, DC. Early Gardner "Photographer of the Army of the Potomac" backmark found on wartime CDVs. CONDITION: fair to good overall, light faded, light thin signature, soiled, stained edges, remnants of adhesive label on reverse, mounted in 8" x 12" mats with clear window showing both sides, attached with archival corner mounts and Gardner history of photo. PROVENANCE: Butterfield Auctions. (02-25025-23/JS). NON-GUN. $2,500-3,500.
