HOLSTER PISTOL. Cal. 50. S# NSN. 19" overall, the 12" nicely filed ribbed brass barrel is engraved "IN:DEN" "RosENTAL" (an area of Austria). Flint lock with cast brass arched plate has steel flat faced serpentine cock, faceted integral pan, unbridled friction frizzen and feather spring with long foliate finial. Lockplate and cock are engraved with scroll. Dense light colored European walnut knob pistol grip stock extends to muzzle with horn tip and has incised line decoration around most elements. Brass furniture consists of heavy short spurred grip cap deeply engraved with foliage and scrolls and trigger guard with central bead with engraved foliate finial. Un pierced long sideplate is engraved en suite. Dark walnut ramrod with horn tip mounts through faceted and beaded pipe with matching thimble. CONDITION: fine. Barrel lightly cleaned and toned to light gold. Engraving remains sharp. Lockplate is in the same condition with bright polish remaining on cock and frizzen. Feather spring retains nearly all of a temper blue. Stock retains nearly all of its original oil finish with a scattering of marks. Furniture is also nicely toned. Bore is good to very good.
