Hetian Jade Beast, 7.4cm in length, 4.3cm in width and 118.5g in weight. Produced by a Suzhou jade carving workshop of the Yuan or Ming Dynasty, it was a paperweight or a handheld ornament for literati and scholars. Bluish white jade with natural cracks and brown patina spots on the surface. Adopting the techniques of "round carving + bas-relief", it is shaped as an auspicious beast (pixiu or bixie) with a plump body and smooth lines, having the characteristic of "bold and unrefined Ming Dynasty jade carving". Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Ming Dynasty Hetian jade auspicious beasts have a full shape and concise knife technique, representing the folk style of Suzhou jade carving, having important value for the study of Ming Dynasty jade craftsmanship, with a market valuation of about 100,000 to 200,000 yuan.
