Description
Here Cyril Hirtle (1918-2003) depicts a hard-working man chomping on his cigarette while using both hands to control a team of oxen pulling a massive log. While both ends of the log are seen, the heads of the oxen are painted at opposing angles. Hirtle masterfully achieves his artistic goal in spite of this.
Condition
Excellent overall condition. Paint retains strong colour. Moderate bulging/cockling to canvas.
