A Langlois gilt brass equatorial dial, French, mid 18th century, signed Langlois A Paris aux Galleries du Louvre, hinged latitude arc, chapter ring and gnomon, compass finely divided to individual degrees, flat compass needle glued on north section, the reverse and top plate engraved with thirty eight European towns and latitudes, in unoriginal black fish skin case, when closed 2 x 8 x 8cm (3/4 x 3 x 3in), the case 2.5 x 9.1 x 9.1cm (1 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/2in) Footnotes: Provenance: Thiebault Antiquities, Paris, April 2011.
