
British Pattern 1716/56 Flintlock Sea Service Pistol

.58 caliber. 11.875" pinned round barrel. NSN. Heavily oxidized metal, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading smoothbore pistol, missing the belt hook, with no sights and a replacement wooden ramrod. 1756 pattern long sear spring lock is marked VERNON/1762 at the tail with an integral faceted iron pan without fence or external bridle, replaced swan neck cock of incorrect form and spear tip steel spring finial. Lock appears to be in original flint configuration with some replaced parts, in particular the cock. {ANTIQUE}
Condition
Fair to Good. Bore poor, dark and rusty. Metal heavily oxidized with a thick brown patina, scattered surface roughness and some pitting. Markings partly obscured in metal to oxidation and wear, none noted in wood. Mechanically functional lock. Wood well worn with some chipped repairs to the rear of the lock, a crack at the rear lock screw, and numerous bumps, dings, mars, chips, gouges and marks throughout.
