US Model 1842 Pistol by Aston

American Civil War

.54 caliber. 8.5" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass mountings, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading smoothbore pistol with captive swivel ramrod, brass blade front sight, no rear sight. Weak "H Aston" lock markings, dated 1847 at the tail. Weak breech markings, weak traces of cartouches. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Fair to Good. Bore moderately oxidized with some pitting. Metal cleaned with a dull pewter patina, showing some scattered light pitting. Mechanically functional action. Wood worn with repaired cracks in the counterpane, and another at the tail of the lock. Wood lightly sanded with scattered bumps, dings and mars.
