
Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver

.31 Cal. 6" barrel length. SN: 199013. (Mfg. ca 1862) Buffed bright with brass gripstraps and walnut one piece grips mounting remnants of a brass front bead and hammer rear notch sights. Single action six-shot percussion revolver with folding loading lever and showing some traces of silver tarnish to gripstraps. Left frame is marked COLTS/PATENT with top of the octagonal barrel exhibiting a two-line address reading ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD. CT. Cylinder additionally struck COLTS PATENT followed by the serial number. Cylinder shows traces of Ormsby's Stagecoach Hold-Up scene. Loading lever has been brass brazed together, and the serial number on the barrel is obliterated. Numbers match on the frame, gripstraps, and cylinder. No visible number on arbor pin. Wedge pin and screw are modern replacements. No visible martial inspection marks. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Good. Bore is Very Dark with oxidation and patina throughout. Metal finish has been aggressively cleaned with a mottled gray to brown patina forming over the frame, rear barrel, and loading lever. Item shows some pitting on the forcing cone, rear barrel, and arbor pin. All markings weakened by buffing. Gripstraps have a faint patina forming after buffing. Grips have been sanded, and show handling wear and dents. Action functions with a weak lockup.
