World War Two U.S. Navy VB-9 squadron patch. The patch is painted on canvas.. Measures 5.875" in diameter. Established as Bombing Squadron Nine (VB-9) on March 1, 1942. The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations - CNO on July 27, , 1944. VB-9's deployments included USS Essex (flew Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless), USS Lexington (flew Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver), and USS Yorktown, (flew Curtiss SB2C-4 Helldiver). Participated in strikes against Tarawa, Kwajalein, and Truk. Rabaul, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
