Sulu Archipelago or Mindanao, Philippines, circa 1900's. Fine example of Filipino blacksmithing and craftmanship, Moro barong sword with wood and rattan wrapped scabbard. Stylized kakatua wood carved pommel with a silver sleeve at the base of the hilt. Broad leaf shaped blade in a slightly convex edge with proper weight-forward balance. Size 28", blade 17"
Condition
Minor losses to rattan wrapping on scabbard, patina to the blade with stable fissures to the handle. Repair to the hilt with dents to the sleeve as shown.
