The sheet features four Fort Bliss Centennial postage stamps and a central vignette depicting a Saturn V–era launch scene, commemorating a decade of U.S. lunar exploration. Haeussermann has signed the lower right corner in ink. The piece reflects the intersection of American spaceflight achievement and official government philatelic production.
Fine condition.
Walter Haeussermann (1916–2014) was a German-born rocket engineer and a key member of the Wernher von Braun team brought to the United States after World War II. At NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, Haeussermann contributed to the development and testing of propulsion systems for the Saturn launch vehicles that powered the Apollo Moon missions. His autographed postal sheets and space-related ephemera are sought after for their direct association with the engineering leadership behind America’s lunar program and the transition from early missile research to human space exploration.
