MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 6.5x54 MS. S# 1761. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Bolt & stock are both mismatched. Unusual Mannlicher-Schoenauer military rifle without Greek acceptance markings on metal. Receiver ring marked "STEYR M1908" with five pointed star & white highlight. Left side of receiver has circled "T" firing proof" & "STEYR 1912" date all with white highlight. Arsenal blue finish. Hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Top of wrist has faint St. George cartouche & left side of butt has partly faded Greek acceptance stamp. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock shows an old refinish with some chipping, scattered dings, handling marks, scratches & a few gouges. Metal shows a fading old arsenal reblue with heavy pitting patches on bbl., further scattered pitting, oxidation, edge wear, handling marks & strong traces of arsenal blue. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Dark worn bore with pitting & oxidation along its length. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection.(25-5950/MJC). CURIO. $400-600.
