Description
4.5" bore diameter and 49" in total length. The trunnions have a 3.5" diameter and are marked "F". The "F" marking would indicate a Swedish Foundry, Finspong, would have produced this cannon for export to Europe. These types of carronades were used by the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic era and mostly used for close quarter firing. A good example of a Bloomfield pattern carronade. While in a state of oxidization, the characteristics of the carronade are pronounced and the "F" marking is extremely visible. A good example of a British carronade.
