A group of six pieces; made of metal, together weighing approximately 70 pounds, including a set of 5-pound dumbbells, a single 40-pound dumbbell, one 10-pound barbell, one 3-pound barbell, and one 5-pound circular weight to place on a barbell; from the star's own possessions as inherited by Lee and Paula Strasberg.
Interestingly, there are many photographs documenting Marilyn working out with weights ? something that was considered somewhat unusual for a woman to do at the time.
PLEASE NOTE: This lot will be offered in situ from the consignor's home in England. The winner of this lot will need to coordinate directly with the consignor in order to retrieve these weights ? either in person or more likely via a professional packing/shipping service.
Ex lot 9; Christie's East, New York, Entertainment Memorabilia, Sale #1260, July 25, 2003; original Christie's East lot tags included.
