.45-70 caliber, serial number 382161, walnut stock with an illegible cartouche on the left side, steel fittings, butt plate tang marked "US/S.C.", lock plate marked with an eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD", breech block marked "U.S./MODEL/1884", barrel breech marked with "V/P" over an eagle head, with a saddle bar and ring on the left side.
