Herbert & Sons sharpening rod. Carved bone handle made to resemble a bull. Iron rod. Engraved 'Herbert & Sons 6 & 7 West Smithfield'. England, late 19th century.

Herbert & Sons was a prominent historic British firm of scale-makers and butchers' outfitters. For nearly 150 years, their flagship headquarters was located at 6 & 7 West Smithfield in London.
