Description

Mali, Bamana/Bambara peoples. A carved wood Ci Wara headdress or crest, modeled in highly abstracted antelope form with elongated vertical horns, projecting ears, and a rounded head above a flaring openwork lower element. The surface retains a dark, weathered brown patina with traces of reddish pigment and areas of lighter wear.
