MILNE JOHN: (1915-2007) Canadian fighter pilot of World War II who served with 605 Squadron in 1940 and participated in the Battle of Britain. D.S., J A Milne, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p. (RAF Croydon, London), n.d. (27th September 1940). The document, originally part of a larger Combat Report, is completed in typescript and relates to the shooting down of an enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain, stating, in part, ´The Squadron climbed to 18,000 feet circling around some Me.110s which were being engaged by fighters.....As we closed with the Me.110s one of them broke left away from his formation and I delivered a full beam attack at 300 yards.....He began to spiral down in left and right-hand turns and I delivered two more attacks.....Both engines were smoking after my first attack, and his port engine burst into flames at 3,000 feet just East of Dorking´.
