Description
This is a vintage handmade unfinished quilt top, likely dating to the mid-20th century, approximately 1930s to 1950s. The piece is constructed using a string-piecing technique, where small strips of fabric are sewn together to form larger segments. These segments are arranged into a series of large, radiating circular motifs resembling a spiderweb or a variation of a Dresden Plate pattern. A distinctive red and white striped cotton fabric is used throughout the design to anchor the circular sections. The top features a diverse assortment of printed cotton scraps, including various calicos, florals, ginghams, and polka dots characteristic of feedsack-era textiles. The construction consists only of the pieced decorative front layer; there is no batting, backing, or finished binding, with raw seam allowances visible on the reverse. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are present.
