A.L.S., 1p. 4to., New York, Jan. 12, 1853, to the editor of Putnam’s Monthly Magazine, submitting an article for consideration (not present), in part: ‘I enclose for your examination the paper I alluded to in my last note, describing the ascent of the Mexican Volcano, Popocatepetl…’ He signs ‘S. B. Buckner’ in black ink at the conclusion, adding his contemporary rank ‘Capt. U.S. Army’. Shows original mailing folds, faintly toned at the edges, and with the remnants of a mounting strip on the verso at the left edge, otherwise in fine condition.
