Description
This is a superb, very large oak arm chair made in a late Gothic revival style. It is decorated with barley twist carvings, the hand-carved rampant lions on the back and the faces of the beasts on the end of the ams. The upholstery on the chair is not original as it didn't survive, but resembles the original closely. It was made by Mr Harry Barker, who was a cabinet maker and furniture dealer in Nottingham, England during the period 1864 1919. You can find his plate on the chair. We think it was made in or around 1901 when those chairs became quite popular. The chair measures 135 cm high, 66 cm wide and 70 cm deep.
