Alfred Valente (1899-1973) was an Italian opera singer, painter, photographer, art collector, dealer, and cultural administrator. Shortly after moving from Italy to New York in 1927, he became the photographer for the Group Theater in 1931, the experimental repertory company organized by Harold Clurman, Cheryl Crawford and Lee Strasberg. By 1933 his photographs were published in newspapers and magazines regularly.
