King, William. THE ART OF COOKERY, IN IMITATION OF HORACE'S ART OF POETRY. WITH SOME LETTERS TO DR. LISTER, AND OTHERS…. London: Bernard Lintott, [1708.] 8vo. [8], 160 pp. Late 19th - early 20th c. half-calf, all edges gilt. Hinges and edges rubbed and some light scuffing to spine, 20th c. former owner bookplates to front pastedown and front endpaper, early ink signatures to half-title and title (dated 1709,) front margin cropped closely throughout but shaving only a few letters and in only a few instances, some marking throughout in red pencil (erasable) but otherwise a clean example with minimal age-toning. Very Good. *********************************** First authorized edition of this interesting satire of Martin Lister's 1705 edition of Apicius. With ’The art of cookery’ and ’De arte poetica’ printed as parallel texts between pp. 52 and 135. [Foxon K57; ESTC T22442]
