Lot 0125
One of the earliest types of baggage tags used on the Boston & Albany Railroad. This exact shape and size was used by the predecessor Western Railroad up to 1867 so the Boston & Albany continued to use this shape for some period of time. This is a large oval with number 4860 and the "Local" designation meant that the traveler would just be using the Boston & Albany route with no further transfers. It has an original leather mounting strap attached.
