Newell‘s marvelous illustrations add to the breadth of Carroll‘s classic, building on the original and inimitable creations of John Tenniel. Scarce in the original dust jacket. Added to the lot is a copy of Peter Newell‘s illustrated edition of Through the Looking-Blass and What Alice Found There, 1902 (worn with front hinge cracked).

Condition

The "Alice" jacket laid down on paper backing, repairing some splits, some rubbing and wear, gilt lettering dull; just a little soiling and extremity wear to boards, lower corner of rear cover darkened, spine leaning a touch; ink name and address to front pastedown, address label to front free endpaper, offset to endpapers front and rear from jacket flaps; very good in good jacket.
