Lot 0004
The Devil Finds Work by James Baldwin. The Dial Press, 1976. First edition, first printing. 122 pages. Baldwin reacts to films he has seen in his life, from childhood memories watching Joan Crawford in Harlem, to provocative interpretations of the biggest hits of the sixties and seventies. He asks us to confront what the films reveal about our culture. Laid-in is the publisher's glossy publicity photo of the author, which was chosen for the rear panel of the dust jacket.
