Dimensions: 22 x 27, framed 32 x 37PROVENANCE: From the collection of Andre Levy Oulmann, the French attorney to many noted artists such as Andre Derain, writers such as Edmond Rostand, the actors Yves Montand and Maurice Chevalier, and others. As a young lawyer, Levy Oulmann was the judicial assistant to Fernand Labori, the lawyer who defended Alfred Dreyfus, and was involved in preparing the Dreyfus case. Levy Oulmann was a 30 year member of the prestigious French arts club the Cornet Society. His spouse, Andree Lorec (Oulmann) sang with the Paris Opera. These paintings was passed down to the consignor through her late husband, Rene Jean Oulmann, Andre's son, a motion picture and advertising producer and director in London and New York. He dropped Levy when he became a naturalized American citizen.
