Stoney Bluff, Edgefield District South Carolina, attributed to Dave. The jar having all characteristics of Dave's work during the 1850s and 1860s while working for Lewis Miles. Tooled rim above double tier throwing ridge flanked by thick, high lug handles on thickly potted squat body with dark runny alkaline glaze having two slash marks and X at upper body. The edge of one handles terminals is restored 1" x 1/2" which is a very small area. Otherwise the piece is in good condition with no other damage or restoration detected. H10 1/2"
